Angie Stone, grammy-nominated R&B singer ’s official cause of death has been revealed following the tragic car crash that claimed her life on 1st March.

She was 63.

According to a lawsuit filed by her children, Diamond Stone and Michael D’Angelo Archer, the Wish I Didn’t Miss You singer initially survived when the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van carrying her and her bandmates overturned in Alabama in March after a show in Mobile.

Court documents state that bystanders managed to pull several passengers out of the wreckage, but Stone was still inside attempting to escape when tragedy struck again.

The suit alleges that a tractor-trailer hauling sugar collided with the van, ejecting Stone and pinning her beneath it.

Her children claim she “consciously suffered” while trapped before ultimately dying at the scene. The lawsuit also accuses the truck driver of failing to pay proper attention and points to a malfunction in the vehicle’s technical system.

Stone’s daughter Diamond confirmed her mother’s passing in a Facebook post at the time, writing simply, “My mommy is gone,” alongside crying emojis.

The beloved artist first rose to fame in 1979 as a member of the pioneering all-female hip-hop trio The Sequence, known for their hit Funk You Up

She later launched a successful solo career in the 1990s with her debut album Black Diamond and went on to earn three Grammy nominations with songs like No More Rain (In This Cloud) and Wish I Didn’t Miss You.

In addition to her music, Stone also appeared on the big screen, with roles in The Hot Chick in 2002 and The Fighting Temptations in 2003.

Stone shared her daughter Diamond with ex-husband Rodney Stone and her son Michael with R&B star D’Angelo.

Her family, who has since traveled to Alabama, is continuing to seek justice as the lawsuit moves forward.
